Job Description Supplier Quality Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Execute supplier quality strategies, policies, and processes
• Perform supplier qualification and approval activities in line with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements
• Plan, conduct, and document supplier audits and assessments; ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions
• Collect, analyze, and report supplier performance data in collaboration with quality teams
• Monitor supplier performance metrics (e.g., defect rates, delivery performance, responsiveness) and support improvement initiatives
• Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective actions using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa
• Prepare supplier scorecards, dashboards, and quality reports; communicate results and trends to stakeholders
• Collaborate with sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align on requirements and improvement actions
• Support new product introductions (NPI) by assessing supplier readiness and verifying process capability
• Ensure clear communication and implementation of technical and quality requirements with suppliers
• Support receiving inspection processes based on supplier performance and risk
• Perform supplier risk assessments and support mitigation actions
• Act as the primary contact for supplier quality-related communication and issue resolution
• Promote continuous improvement within the supply base
• Support supplier and internal team training, onboarding, and technical development activities
• Participate in supplier approval or disqualification decisions by providing data-driven recommendations
• Monitor KPIs and support continuous improvement aligned with performance targets
• Escalate critical supplier quality issues with analysis and recommendations
• Participate in technical discussions and reviews with suppliers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role (e.g., Supplier Quality Engineer)
• Experience in quality management systems and supplier quality processes
• Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and 8D
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Experience working with suppliers in an international environment is an advantage
