Bookkeeper

About This Role

Bookkeeping for a fraternal nonprofit organization is the core of this part-time role, which involves managing daily financial records, accounts payable and receivable, and monthly reconciliations. The Bookkeeper will support the lodge leadership and trustees by providing accurate financial reports.

Responsibilities

• Record day-to-day financial transactions and maintain the general ledger
• Track member dues, event receipts and expenses, and California sales tax estimates and payments as requested by Lodge Secretary and Treasurer
• Perform monthly bank and investment account reconciliations
• Generate monthly profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, and budget variance reports for lodge leadership and trustees
• Organize records, receipts, and ledgers to coordinate smoothly with outside CPAs for annual filings and Grand Lodge audits

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of proven bookkeeping or accounting experience (nonprofit or fraternal organization background preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and MS Excel
• High attention to detail, strong data entry accuracy, and ability to meet recurring deadlines
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality regarding member and lodge finances

Important Details

• Schedule: approximately 8 hours per week
