About This Role
This boat captain role involves the safe operation and maintenance of the resort's boats, ensuring smooth passenger transfers and upholding high standards of guest service. The position suits a captain who can react quickly in emergencies and handle minor repairs, while also being responsible for the cleanliness and professional image of the boat and docking areas.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and service boats and boat docking areas
- Report any damage or defects to the boat or engine immediately to the Director of Operations
- Carry passengers to and from the terminal jetty to the resort jetty
- React quickly in emergencies
- Make necessary minor and emergency repairs
- Maintain boats and equipment on board, such as engines, winches, navigational systems, fire extinguishers, and life preservers
- Purchase supplies and equipment
- Monitor diesel stock
- Extend a warm welcome and appreciation to every guest/patron by greeting them with "Welcome to Tunamaya" or "See you soon, Mr./Mrs./Miss So & So"
- Check guest listings provided by the Front Office to recognize guests upon arrival from the ferry
- Assist with handling the boat during journeys between the terminal jetty and the resort and vice versa
- Ensure all guests are in a safe condition before departure, including making sure all passengers wear life jackets once in the boat
- Conduct bell service activities such as luggage service upon guest's arrival and departure, handling luggage from the jetty to the boat and directly to the assigned guest room
- Assist during boat departure from any jetty
- Possess a wealth of knowledge relating to the resort
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of the boat, luggage trolley, and the surrounding environment
- Maintain a professional image while on duty with good grooming hygiene and prescribed uniform
- Perform other duties assigned by the Guest Service Manager, Duty Manager, Assistant Logistic Manager, or other concerned hotel officers
- Always be concerned with energy and environment conservation issues in daily work
- Perform all duties as requested by hotel policies and/or direct supervisor
