Entrepreneurs in the Trifinio region have a new opportunity to turn ideas into sustainable businesses with the launch of BIO EMPRENDE TRIFINIO, a call for proposals aimed at entrepreneurs and small businesses interested in developing productive initiatives with environmental and social impact.

The call for proposals originates within the framework of the Resilient and Biodiverse Landscapes of Northern Mesoamerica project, funded by the Biodiverse Landscapes Fund (BLF) and implemented by WCS and CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center), in collaboration with the Trifinio Plan Trinational Commission (CTPT) and various local partners. The Activa-CATIE innovation and entrepreneurship lab is also participating, responsible for the incubation process and providing technical support for the selected projects.

Who can participate? BIO EMPRENDE TRIFINIO is aimed at entrepreneurs and companies —natural or legal persons— with permanent residence or headquarters in the Trifinio region of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.

Businesses Must

  • Having a formal or early-stage product or service.
  • Being related to agricultural, livestock, forestry, tourism, food processing or technological development activities.
  • To operate legally in the territory.
  • Be available to participate in the incubation process.
  • Demonstrate interest in sustainable business models.

Priority will be given to indigenous communities, young women and families, reinforcing the project's commitment to inclusion and territorial equity.

Participants will receive professional mentorship to consolidate or improve their green business idea or product, as well as learn to design and optimize sustainable production models with a positive environmental impact. The program also offers the opportunity to increase the competitiveness of their ventures and expand market opportunities through business strengthening and the incorporation of value-added approaches.

“In addition, the selected individuals will have the advantage of connecting with technical, institutional, and community organizations, generating collaborative networks that can boost their growth and improve their positioning within the Trifinio region,” said Vladimir Valera, director of Activa-CATIE.

The application period will remain open until January 18, 2026 , and interested parties can register by completing the form available at the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/Mr21GkCnWF Join the conversation
