Bid Manager

About This Role

This role is for a driven, commercially minded Bid Manager to join the Active Fire division, managing the full bid lifecycle. The core purpose is to secure new business and retain existing contracts by producing compelling, technically robust tender submissions and continuously improving the win rate. The position suits a professional with experience in bid, proposal, tender, or commercial roles.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end bid lifecycle using structured review stages (Kick-off, Pink, Red and White reviews), producing high-quality, engaging and technically detailed proposals
• Lead the completion of SQs, PQQs, ITTs and RFPs, coordinating cross-functional input to deliver timely, accurate and compliant submissions
• Source and monitor tender opportunities, including OJEU-regulated portals, assessing suitability and producing Bid/No Bid recommendations for the Senior Leadership Team
• Oversee final bid preparation and delivery via portal, email or print, and attend site visits, presentations and interviews as required
• Work cross-functionally with Estimating, Operations and Sales to shape win strategy and proposal quality
• Conduct post-bid reviews, analyse feedback and implement improvements to drive win rates
• Maintain and enhance the Bid Library, and support a smooth operational handover post-award
• Provide regular reporting on bid activity and performance, and support continuous improvement of the bid function

Requirements

• Proven experience in bid management or bid writing, with a track record of contributing to successful tender submissions
• Excellent written and verbal communication, producing high-quality, persuasive and technically detailed content
• Strong understanding of tender documentation (SQ, PQQ, ITT, RFP) and bid lifecycle methodologies (Kick-off, Pink/Red/White reviews)
• Familiarity with OJEU-regulated tender portals and processes
• High attention to detail, strong organisation, and the ability to coordinate stakeholders across multiple teams to strict deadlines
• Confident using Microsoft Office applications
