Benefits Specialist

About This Role

This role is for an Employee Benefit - Client Service Specialist, serving public sector clients such as municipalities, boards of education, unions, and other public entities. It suits an individual who is the go-to person for benefits questions, knowledgeable about plans, adept at resolving claims, and skilled in managing open enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the trusted day-to-day contact for public sector clients on all employee benefits matters
• Resolve member issues and claims questions, partnering with carriers to get answers quickly
• Manage enrollment, eligibility, and billing review
• Explain coverage, plan design, rates, and plan documents (SBCs, SPDs) in clear, friendly language
• Keep client records accurate in BenefitPoint and ImageRight (training provided)
• Take ownership of special projects for the team

Requirements

• 2+ years of health and welfare benefits experience, whether in corporate HR, benefits administration, a health insurance fund, a third-party administrator, insurance company, insurance broker, or with a carrier
• Hands-on experience with a benefits administration system
• Excellent organization and time management, with the ability to juggle priorities efficiently
• A quick learner who works well independently and as part of a close team
• A professional, calm presence with demanding clients
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

Nice to have:

• Public sector HR experience (township, municipality, board of ed, union, police)
• Spanish language skills
• College degree

Important Details

• Hybrid schedule: 90 days onsite for training, then 3 days in the office and 2 from home
