Benefits Specialist

About This Role

The Benefits Specialist coordinates with new clients to set up benefit plans within the company's systems. This role involves working with internal departments to integrate systems and software platforms, managing carrier connections and benefits integration through testing, and acting as a liaison between Implementation and Service for client benefit setup.

Responsibilities

• Process a variety of benefit plan information (Medical, dental, vision, Group and Voluntary Supplemental benefits, worksite) to ensure plans are established according to client summary plan descriptions, eligibility, and termination rules
• Set up customers on benefits where needed
• Coordinate with development teams to ensure system requirements are met and integration of all system feeds are working efficiently
• Recommend improvements to system setup and connections to enhance efficiencies
• Research discrepancies and reporting between systems and resolve inaccuracies
• Assist clients and team members with Open Enrollment setup and employee self-service implementation
• Reach out to and communicate with customers on a scheduled basis to ensure service model standard is in place
• Assist and direct where needed for carrier claims processing
• Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

• Analytical thinking
• Strong customer service outreach acumen
• Basic knowledge of group insurance products such as Medical, dental, vision, life, disability
• Problem-solving ability with general supervision; resolve routine questions alone and more complex issues with assistance
• Ability to use a variety of technical and business programs (Excel, databases) to complete daily tasks
• Effective business writing skills to respond to various inquiries
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with sensitive information
