Behavioral Health Technician (LPT) - Part Time, Days

Role Overview: Provides direct and indirect psychiatric care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring their needs are met through age-appropriate interventions and therapeutic communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists with patient data collection, assessments, and care planning.
• Uses de-escalation techniques, manages behaviors, and employs restraint or seclusion as necessary.
• Processes admissions, discharges, and conducts intake interviews.
• Monitors patient condition, documents observations, and reports changes to the RN.
• Administers medications per physician orders, ensuring safety protocols.
• Engages with patients, families, and staff to promote safety and understanding.
• Supports patient education, safety, and recreational activities.
• Performs routine rounds and environment safety checks.
• Completes necessary documentation and communicates effectively across shifts.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's or technical degree preferred.
• Experience in mental healthcare preferred.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician required.
• Certifications in aggression management (TEAM/CPI) and BLS required.
• Strong communication, observation, and de-escalation skills essential.
