About the role
Role:
Provides direct and indirect psychiatric care under RN supervision to patients of all ages, utilizing therapeutic communication and age-appropriate interventions.
- Assists with patient data collection, assessment, and care planning.
- Monitors patient status, behaviors, and vital signs, documenting observations accurately.
- Administers medications per physician orders, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Uses de-escalation, restraint, and seclusion techniques when necessary to manage aggression.
- Facilitates admission, discharge, and intake procedures while addressing patients' physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs.
- Engages with patients, families, and healthcare team members to communicate findings and support patient education.
- Performs routine safety checks and environment monitoring to prevent harm.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred. Prior experience in mental healthcare is advantageous. Must possess or obtain relevant licensure (LVN/LPN or Psychiatric Technician). Certification in aggression management and CPR/BLS is required. Strong communication, observational, and therapeutic skills are essential.
