Behavioral Health Program Lead & Clinician Mentor

About This Role

Leading and mentoring teams on best practices for behavioral health programs is the core of this role, ensuring high-quality care experiences and compliance with regulations. This position involves guiding clinicians in assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient advocacy, while also managing program implementation and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Implement and provide guidance to the team on best practices for conducting assessments and determining diagnoses
• Provide guidance and feedback and mentor the team on communicating to share results, discuss treatment plans, and provide resources
• Mentor across teams on member/patient advocacy, anticipating care issues, implementing feedback, and/or responding to complaints
• Participate in the development of care experience standards and ensure high-quality care experiences
• Provide guidance on determining the appropriate services for referrals and implement standards for sharing information with providers
• Provide guidance to ensure quality therapy programs and manage the implementation of new programs across teams
• Implement adjustments to improve services and coach the team on implementing improvements to programs
• Ensure the optimal utilization of programs
• Provide guidance across teams on regulatory policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance, consulting with Compliance
• Implement processes to guide the team on documentation, records, and reports according to regulations
• Provide developmental opportunities for others and build collaborative, cross-functional relationships
• Solicit and act on performance feedback; work closely with employees to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement
• Pursue professional growth; develop and provide training and development to talent for growth opportunities; support execution of performance management guidelines and expectations
• Lead, adapt, implement, and stay up to date with organizational change, challenges, feedback, best practices, processes, and industry trends
• Foster open dialogue amongst team members, engage, motivate, and promote collaboration within and across teams
• Delegate tasks and decisions as appropriate; provide appropriate support, guidance, and scope; encourage development and consideration of options in decision making
• Manage designated work unit or team by translating business plans into tactical action items; oversee the completion of work assignments and identify opportunities for improvement; ensure all policies and procedures are followed
• Align team efforts; build accountability for and measure progress in achieving results; determine and ensure processes and methodologies are implemented; resolve escalated issues as appropriate; set standards and measure progress
• Foster the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; obtain and distribute resources
• Remove obstacles that impact performance; identify and address improvement opportunities; guide performance and develop contingency plans accordingly; influence teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives
• Mentor others across teams on member/patient advocacy, anticipating care issues, implementing customer feedback, and/or investigating and responding to member/patient complaints to increase satisfaction
• Participate in the development of member/patient care experience standards and ensure high-quality member/patient care experience and service across teams
• Provide guidance on determining the appropriate services for member/patient referrals and implementing standards for sharing information with providers
• Provide guidance across teams on organizational, state, and federal guidelines as well as regulatory policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance, consulting with Compliance when necessary
• Implement processes to guide the team on written and electronic documentation, records, and reports according to department, federal, and state regulations
• Provide guidance and feedback to multiple teams facilitating psychological/behavioral interventions
• Mentor team on communicating with patients, members, or families to share results, discuss treatment plans, provide resources, and answer questions with empathy and support
• Implement procedures for assessing and treating urgent, high-risk clinical situations (e.g., crisis, suicidal), overseeing results

• Note: In addition to managerial and administrative responsibilities, this role may also be responsible for providing direct psychotherapeutic services to individual patients and/or patient groups as assigned.
