Behavioral Health Associate - Senior Behavioral Health - Per Diem

About This Role

This per diem role involves providing direct patient care within a Senior Behavioral Health setting, working under the supervision of a registered nurse. It suits a compassionate individual with a strong work ethic who can perform a variety of tasks in a patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients under the supervision and direction of the registered nurse
• Assist with bathing and personal hygiene
• Assist with patient ambulation
• Assist with feeding
• Assist with toileting
• Assist with vital signs
• Perform weights
• Conduct safety checks
• Provide continuous observation of patients
• Exhibit knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care
• Exhibit knowledge of principles of growth and development for patient groups served
• Demonstrate knowledge of providing care for specific population and age groups
• Demonstrate knowledge of computer skills
• Exhibit ability to provide safe care to individual needs of the patient, family, and caregiver in a patient-centered environment
• Exhibit attributes of caring, empathy, and promotion of a positive work environment
• Embody a strong work ethic

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid and active CNA Certification in the State of Connecticut
• Valid CPR with BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a long-term care and/or behavioral health setting
• Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Data entry and documentation skills
• Experience working with a psychiatric population
• Significant walking, bending, stooping, patient lifting and positioning
• Ability to participate in PERT
• Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and data entry
• Mental flexibility to perform diverse duties involved in patient care
• Good communication skills, written and oral, and ability to follow written and oral instruction

Nice to have:

• 1 year experience in acute care inpatient environment as Patient Care Assistant or CNA
