Basketball Coach

About This Role

Being a Basketball Coach involves developing and implementing a high-quality basketball athletics program for after-school scholars, providing them with effective leadership and fostering their personal and social development. This role suits a candidate with strong basketball knowledge and a commitment to youth development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and execute the basketball athletics curriculum
• Create a program that will include daily conditioning, fundamental drills, and a strategic playbook
• Communicate and work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
• Monitor and report on student progress and performance both in the classroom and on the court
• Collaborate and consult with staff on student performance in various athletic activities and schoolwork
• Maintain ongoing communication with the Athletics Program Director
• Develop positive relationships with students that promote wellness, growth, respect, and self-esteem
• Act as a positive role model for students
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
• Experience working with youth and adolescent populations
• A degree and at least two years of coaching experience
• Strong knowledge and a keen understanding of basketball
• Ensure the various athletics curriculums are structured and have clear learning goals
• Solid understanding of youth sports and safety guidelines
• Ability to travel to away games or events
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Positive, enthusiastic, collaborative, flexible, and approachable attitude
• Ability to effectively engage and motivate students

Important Details

• Schedule: Fall/Spring: Monday-Thursday 2 PM-7:30 PM, Friday 2 PM-7 PM; Summer: Monday-Thursday 11 AM-4:30 PM, Friday 11 AM-4:30 PM
• Potentially working Saturdays or Sundays is required, depending on the sport and game schedule
