Barista

About This Role

This Barista role focuses on providing excellent customer service and fulfilling food and beverage orders within a certified coffee establishment. The position also involves ensuring efficient operation through cleaning, food preparation, seating customers, stocking, and inventory maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service, greeting guests with a smile, taking orders, answering menu questions, offering recommendations, and thanking them for their order
• Prepare and deliver quality beverages and food products consistently by adhering to recipe and presentation standards
• Operate a cash register and receive payment from guests, following all brand, HMSHost customer service, and cash handling policies and procedures
• Keep the store clean, stocked, and organized, decorating customer display areas to be aesthetically pleasing and up to brand standards
• Follow operational policies and procedures, including those for health & safety and security

Requirements

• One year of customer service experience
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
• Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of certified coffee establishment products and procedures
• Ability to bend, twist, walk, and stand to perform normal job functions
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to perform repetitive motions
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Use of hand dexterity for writing, grabbing, pulling, twisting, shaking

Nice to have:

• At least one year of experience working in a high-volume coffee shop
• Previous cash handling experience
