Banquet Server

About This Role

Serving guests at events and functions is the core of this role, which involves setting up banquet rooms, serving food and beverages, and clearing tables. This position suits a motivated individual with a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up for functions, including draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, and placing table centerpieces
• Pick up food from the back hall and carry trays to the function location
• Serve food and clear food from tables
• Break down functions, including bussing tables, putting away dirty linen and centerpieces, and vacuuming
• Clean the back hall and organize storerooms
• Set up for AM or PM break stations, including coffee, tea, snacks, and beverages
• Assist as needed with event room setup according to meal period and table needs
• Perform food and beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments, brewing coffee, and ensuring workstations are stocked
• Serve food and beverages to guests
• Remove dishes, glasses, silverware, or other items from tables/countertops and take them to the kitchen
• Clean and sanitize tables and/or counters and seats after guests are finished
• Explain how various menu items are prepared, cooking methods, and ingredients
• Take into consideration any special requests and dietary issues made by the guest
• Provide general property information
• Offer a warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests
• Interact with staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
• Ensure a final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guests
• Monitor assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional service
• Address any guest issue promptly and with high concern
• Provide assistance to other event and restaurant staff as needed
• Maintain constant awareness of safety issues (e.g., broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks, and suspicious persons)

Requirements

• 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably banquet service
• Experience in a 4-star, 5-star venue with synchronized service
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
• Excellent communication skills
