About The Role We are seeking a skilled Java Backend Engineer to join our team as an L2 Production Support specialist. This role involves a balanced mix of support and development responsibilities, with approximately 70% dedicated to troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting existing integrations, and 30% focused on developing enhancements and new features. The primary focus will be on supporting Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, ensuring seamless operation and integration across various services. The ideal candidate will possess a robust development background combined with hands-on experience in production support, capable of diagnosing complex issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions.

This position is ideal for professionals who understand backend service communication, can efficiently troubleshoot production incidents, and are eager to contribute to ongoing system improvements. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including senior engineers and stakeholders. Working remotely within India, the candidate must be available during IST working hours and participate in shared on-call rotations to support critical systems outside regular hours.

Qualifications The candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Java backend development or production support roles. Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is essential, along with a solid understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, and service-to-service communication. Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases are required for effective troubleshooting and data analysis. Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems is a plus, as is experience with cloud platforms and DevOps practices.

Additional qualifications include a proven track record of debugging and resolving production issues, familiarity with logs, monitoring tools, and root cause analysis techniques. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently on support issues, exercise good judgment in escalation, and contribute to code quality through code reviews, testing, and documentation. Exposure to integration patterns, cross-service troubleshooting, and performance tuning will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, including its APIs, integration points, and associated services.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and related backend systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Analyze logs, database queries, API responses, and Kafka events to identify root causes of production issues.
• Diagnose whether issues originate from application code, database, integration layer, or external systems, and implement appropriate fixes.
• Lead incident resolution efforts, perform root cause analysis, and develop permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain and enhance Java/Spring Boot applications through bug fixes, performance improvements, and feature updates.
• Write, review, and maintain unit and integration tests, contributing to the overall testing strategy and quality assurance processes.
• Adhere to best engineering practices including code reviews, documentation, and monitoring to ensure system stability and reliability.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and technical leads on complex issues, architectural decisions, and technical improvements.
• Participate in on-call support rotations, ensuring timely resolution of critical issues and proper escalation procedures are followed.
