About This Role
Developing and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications is the core of this engineering role. The position suits a motivated Ruby on Rails Developer with hands-on experience in RESTful API development and PostgreSQL, along with a strong understanding of software development principles and coding best practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain web applications and backend services using Ruby on Rails
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, ensuring proper authentication, authorization, validation and error handling
- Work with PostgreSQL and ActiveRecord to manage database operations, write efficient queries and maintain data integrity
- Write clean, modular, reusable and maintainable code while following object-oriented programming principles and SOLID principles
- Identify and resolve application bugs, technical issues and performance bottlenecks
- Write and maintain automated tests using RSpec or Minitest to ensure application reliability and code quality
- Assist in optimizing database queries, application performance and background job processing
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with senior developers, frontend engineers and product teams to deliver effective technical solutions
- Support third-party API integrations and contribute to the development of reliable backend workflows
- Follow established development practices and contribute to improving code quality, application performance and engineering workflows
Requirements
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience developing web applications using Ruby on Rails
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline
Nice to have:
- Exposure to API integrations, fintech products or payment-related systems
- Familiarity with background job processing, caching and application performance optimization
- Understanding of application security best practices
