About This Role
This role is for a backend developer with a minimum of three years of experience, focusing on Java, Spring Boot, and microservices. The company has openings across three specialized areas: microservices and API integration, batch jobs rewrite, and Java/Spring Boot application modernization, offering a chance to work on various aspects of modern backend development.
Responsibilities
- Develop bi-directional sync microservices
- Build and test REST API endpoints
- Integrate with upstream and downstream systems
- Participate in code reviews and unit/integration testing
- Maintain technical documentation
- Analyse and reverse-engineer existing legacy batch scripts to understand processing logic and dependencies
- Sequentially rewrite batch jobs across CGS, Communications, Reports, and Processing modules into a modern framework
- Ensure functional parity between legacy and rewritten jobs
- Implement unit and regression tests for each rewritten batch job
- Support integration with the modernised PTMS application
- Build Spring Boot backend services for both VIS and CGS applications
- Implement business logic aligned with domain and product requirements
- Support API integration with the modernised frontend
- Participate in code reviews and testing activities
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of backend development experience
- Strong proficiency in Java or C#, with hands-on RESTful API development experience
- Experience with microservices architecture and system integration patterns
- Familiarity with Git-based version control and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Good problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Experience with batch job frameworks and scheduled processing systems
- Ability to analyse, troubleshoot, and reverse-engineer legacy scripts
- Proficiency in Java, C#, or an equivalent modern backend programming language
- Experience with unit testing, regression testing, and batch workload validation
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with service layer design, backend business logic, and database integration
- Familiarity with API integration, Agile delivery, and code review practices
- Good analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
