Back End Developer

About This Role

This role is for a Backend Engineer to join the O&S team for web application development within a technology consultancy. The position involves contributing to the creation of mobile and web applications and cloud technology solutions for clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend services using Spring Boot / Node.js
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of system and deployment issues
• Assist in enhancing system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and maintainability
• Implement backend features following established security and development standards
• Work closely with frontend developers for API integration
• Support CI/CD processes and ongoing application development
• Participate in technical discussions and adoption of engineering practices

Requirements

• 2–5 years of software development experience
• Hands-on experience in Java + Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience in REST API development
• Basic experience with Node.js
• Basic experience with Maven
• Understanding of databases (SQL / NoSQL)
• Understanding of basic application security practices
• Exposure to agile or continuous development environments
• Front end development experience

Nice to have:

• Candidates with Government / Defence (MINDEF / SAF) project experience
• Exposure to secure or regulated environments
• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS / Azure)
• Some experience participating in code reviews or team development standards

Important Details

• Contract: 24-months fixed term
• Flexible Work Arrangement: Staff may choose to work flexi-place, flexi-time, and flexi-load based on existing framework
