Back End Developer

About This Role

This engineering role involves building AI-powered applications, backend systems, and data-driven tools for a private equity investment firm. The work combines Python, AI, financial data, APIs, and microservices, with opportunities to contribute across the full stack. The role suits engineers who take ownership of features from concept through production, working directly with stakeholders to understand business problems and design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop intelligent tools that analyze financial documents, extract insights, and support investment workflows
• Design, develop, and maintain reliable services, APIs, and microservices, primarily using Python
• Build applications that help investment teams understand portfolio company performance, financial metrics, and returns
• Develop pipelines and integrations connecting internal systems, external data sources, and analytical applications
• Take ownership of features from identifying the problem and designing the solution through implementation, testing, and production
• Contribute to user interfaces and interactive applications when needed
• Use modern AI development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong standards for quality, security, and reliability

Requirements

• 1

6 years of software engineering experience, with opportunities for both junior and intermediate candidates

• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including system design, debugging, testing, and writing maintainable code
• Experience with Python, backend development, APIs, and databases
• Experience building, shipping, or maintaining real software applications
• The ability to work through ambiguous problems, ask the right questions, and independently determine an approach
• Strong analytical thinking and an interest in understanding the business impact of technical decisions
• A proactive, hands-on mindset with a bias toward execution
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical background
