Back End Developer

About This Role

This engineering role focuses on developing and maintaining backend services for a pioneering medical technology company that is transforming organ transplantation. The position involves working with C#, .NET, Azure, SQL, APIs, and cloud-based services, and suits a developer who wants to solve complex technical challenges and contribute to technology with real-world impact.

Responsibilities

• Solve interesting technical challenges rather than simply maintaining legacy systems

• Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, databases and Azure cloud solutions
• Develop automation and DevOps workflows, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and deployment pipelines
• Design, test and optimise reliable software using unit, integration and automated testing
• Collaborate with technical and product teams to shape requirements, architecture and solutions
• Maintain high standards of security, quality, compliance, documentation and data protection
• Monitor and improve live systems, troubleshooting issues and supporting controlled production releases while delivering technology with real-world impact

Requirements

• Strong skills in databases, cloud services and modern software engineering
• Passionate about building secure, scalable and maintainable software
• Experience in testing, DevOps and CI/CD
• Experience building reliable software that supports healthcare or patient-focused applications
• Strong backend development for secure healthcare platforms and services
• Developing scalable, resilient cloud solutions for digital health applications
• Building secure APIs and integrating systems, services and healthcare data
• Strong SQL/database skills with an understanding of data quality, security and performance
• Understanding of cybersecurity, authentication, data protection and secure software development
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or another STEM related subject, or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

• Experience with medical devices, healthcare regulation, traceability, validation or risk management
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven systems or regulated healthcare/medtech
