Duties
- Allocate the number of emergency units required based on the nature of the call
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal activities to provide additional resources as requested.
- Answer emergency line phone calls to determine the type of emergency response.
- Maintain radio communication with responding emergency personnel and coordinate request for additional resources.
- Use a dispatch communication software program (e.g., Computer Aided Dispatch, Automated Location Information, two-way radio console, automated alarm transmitting equipment) in emergency situations to communicate dispatch instructions.
- Evaluate the situation to dispatch required medical and emergency personnel.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: receiving, prioritizing, documenting and processing of emergency communications and operations by obtaining relevant emergency information (e.g. location of caller, type of fire, nature of medical emergency, vehicle accident) and dispatching appropriate emergency vehicles to the scene.
OR
Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equated to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
