About This Role
The Auto Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles to ensure they are in optimal condition for customers. This role requires a thorough understanding of automotive systems and a commitment to delivering high-quality service within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic equipment and provide effective solutions
- Repair or replace worn parts and systems, including engines, transmissions, and suspensions
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential issues
- Use diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint mechanical and electronic problems
- Provide accurate estimates for repair costs and timelines
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain vehicle issues and necessary repairs
- Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring all repairs are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain detailed records of services performed and parts used
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices
- Ensure all repairs meet or exceed manufacturer and industry standards
- Work closely with other mechanics, service advisors, and the parts department to ensure seamless workflow
- Participate in training and development programs to stay current with advancements in automotive technology
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification from a recognized automotive repair program preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with automotive repair tools and equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged periods standing, bending, and working under vehicles
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools and machinery
