Bio
Austin Schofield (austinvisual) is a photographer based around Boston, MA. He focuses primarily on capturing street photography in and around the city of Boston, but also dabbles in landscape work through his travels around the States. Austin takes heavy influence from painters in the impressionist-era, and outspokenly tries portraying elements of these works in his photography.

Impressions of Boston | View on OpenSea
A breakaway from my previous work, “Impressions of Boston” is a collection of images taken throughout the summer of 2021 that deviates from the typical approach to street photography. Through this work, I seek to paint Boston in a light it hasn’t been observed in yet. Inspired by the works of artists like Berthe Morisot, Georges Seurat, and others, I spent the months of June through August taking pictures of beautiful spaces in the city. This inspiration manifested into a set of images that carry characteristics abundantly found in post-impressionist paintings: honest subject matter, unrecognizable figures, and augmented colors - colors that seem real at a quick glance, but upon inspection, are revealed to be drastically altered. This is Boston through the eyes of a soul hungry for interaction but afraid of the burden of being consumed in it.
