About the role

Fully Remote | No Book Required | No Billable Requirement | Significant Bonus Potential

MB Attorney Search has been exclusively retained by a growing Chicago-based plaintiffs’ litigation firm to recruit an experienced Partner-level litigator for its expanding Consumer Class Action practice.

This is not a traditional law firm partner role.

There is no book-of-business requirement. There is no billable-hour requirement. The position is fully remote. Instead, the firm is looking for an accomplished, hands-on litigator who wants to lead sophisticated federal litigation, manage a substantial docket, and mentor other attorneys.

The practice is focused primarily on consumer class actions and data breach litigation , but direct data breach experience is not required . The firm is open to strong litigators from adjacent class action and complex litigation practices who have the judgment and substantive skills to transition successfully into this area.

The Opportunity

The incoming Partner will take substantial ownership of an existing portfolio of consumer class action matters and work with a growing team of associates and law clerks.

This is a hands-on litigation role . The right attorney should enjoy developing case strategy, drafting and reviewing substantive filings, handling significant motion practice, negotiating settlements, and moving cases toward resolution.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Independently managing a significant portfolio of federal consumer class action matters
  • Developing litigation strategy from filing through resolution
  • Handling and supervising substantive motion practice, including motions to dismiss
  • Drafting, editing and reviewing complaints, briefs and other significant filings
  • Managing class action settlements and related proceedings
  • Working with local counsel and co-counsel throughout the country
  • Navigating competing actions, consolidation and lead-counsel issues
  • Supervising and mentoring associates and law clerks

Who Should Consider This Role?

The firm is particularly interested in attorneys with approximately 10+ years of sophisticated litigation experience , although it will consider candidates with fewer years who demonstrate the judgment and experience necessary to operate at the Partner level.

Strong candidates may come from backgrounds including:

  • Consumer class actions
  • Data breach or data privacy litigation
  • Complex commercial litigation
  • Consumer protection litigation

  • Antitrust class actions
  • Financial services or statutory consumer litigation
  • Other sophisticated federal class action practices
  • Plaintiff-side experience is preferred but is not an absolute requirement for an attorney with highly transferable class action experience.

The strongest candidates will have significant experience in federal court , sophisticated brief writing and motion practice, and the ability to independently manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.

Prior supervisory experience is valuable. The firm would particularly welcome someone who enjoys mentoring younger attorneys and helping develop a growing litigation team.

    Why This Opportunity Stands Out

No book of business required. You are being hired for your litigation ability—not your portable business.

No billable-hour requirement. Performance is focused on effectively advancing and resolving cases rather than generating hours.

Fully remote. Attorneys may work from anywhere in the United States. Chicago office attendance is not required.

Meaningful compensation upside. Base compensation is expected to be approximately $180,000–$200,000 , plus an annual discretionary bonus based on individual performance and firm profitability. In recent years, attorneys in comparable roles have received bonuses reaching well into the six figures, although bonuses are not guaranteed.

Real responsibility. This is an opportunity to take ownership of sophisticated litigation rather than simply supporting someone else's docket.

Established case pipeline. The firm has a substantial and growing portfolio of consumer class action matters.

Growing team. The incoming Partner will have an opportunity to help lead, mentor and develop other attorneys as the practice expands.

    About the Firm

MB Attorney Search has successfully placed several attorneys and legal professionals with the organization and have seen firsthand its continued growth. The firm has evolved from its entrepreneurial beginnings into a profitable and expanding plaintiffs’ litigation practice with a substantial nationwide class action docket.

Because MB Attorney Search is conducting this search on an exclusive, retained basis , we can provide qualified candidates with meaningful insight into the firm, its leadership, the practice and the opportunity throughout the interview process.
