Job Description
The YMCA of Snohomish County is looking for an innovative, and experienced camp professional to be the face of camp programs for the YMCA of Snohomish County. The Association Director of Camp Advancement will provide leadership and direction for branch executives and branch camp leaders, ensuring high quality, aligned and innovative year-round day camp programs and engagement, expansion and growth. Areas of focus include day camps, adventure activities, program development and growth, and year-round camp programming. This position is responsible for the development of program quality standards, training and development, program development and implementation of new and existing programs with a focus on program growth and development. The YMCA of Snohomish County has 7 branches across the county serving thousands of children in camp programs each summer.
Job Duties
Leads the efforts in camp advancement for the YMCA of Snohomish County
Works closely with the overnight camp team to ensure camp messaging, programming and communications are aligned for the organization.
Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities
Reviews and evaluates staff performance
Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position
Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected
Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate
Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed
Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living
Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs
Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
Maintains proper records/department files
Organizes association-wide programs and special events for parents
Provides staff leadership for fundraising campaign
Meets with community and YMCA Leaders to provide updates on trends and results for camp programs.
Ensures continuous improvement and growth by creating a sense of urgency and positive tension to support change, by fostering a climate of innovation to develop camper-focused programs that support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
Keep abreast of trends issues and opportunities within the larger camping industry.
Understands and fully implements the Y-Improvement model at his/her branch and will ensure that all management staff are fully engaged in the process.
Continue to develop a culture of innovation while maintaining legacy traditions.
Serve and lead marketing efforts to maximize camp enrollment.
Serve as visible figure head and spokesperson for Snohomish YMCA Camping Programs.
Oversees hiring, training, development and supervision of staff.
Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
Directs on-site volunteer activities of camp including but not limited to facility, office, and program volunteers.
Participates in the activities of volunteer committees as requested.
Serves as a member of the Y management and supports the overall objectives of the Y including support of Association staff in strategic planning efforts, all philanthropic endeavors, and development of the annual operating goals of the camp.
Models relationship building skills in all interactions w/staff, volunteers, campers and parents, and the community.
Displays the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at all times.
Represents and promotes the Y in the local community and develops positive working relationships w/other organizations, businesses, and government entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships w/community agencies in service delivery area.
Interprets, communicates, and promotes the objectives, facility, and programs of the Association to the member/guest groups, targeted audiences and the community through public communication media and such other means as seem appropriate.
Responsible for strict adherence to all policies, licensing and accreditation requirements, and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations.
Reviews and evaluates the enrollment, programs, and services and communicates findings and recommendations.
Responsible for other duties and projects as necessary to achieve goals and priorities of the branch and Association.
Qualifications
At least 5 years of leadership experience in related field that demonstrates past success in managing an operation of similar size and scope.
Minimum age 21

Strong experience in motivating others. Candidate will be required to motivate and inspire many distinct groups including volunteers, staff, professionals, parents and youth.
Successful fiscal management and growth.
Demonstrated experience in leading through influence in a highly complex environment. Including a strong record of developing staff to their fullest potential.
Demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through others and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high volume of work.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Excellent customer service, sales, problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational and public relations skills.
Fluent in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, social media and other management software.
Experience working with individuals, families and communities of diverse backgrounds and abilities
Plan, organize, and implement high quality developmentally appropriate programming
Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
Fluency in second language desired

Lead and participate in a range of activities in indoor/outdoor settings. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise program activities. Staff may be required to move weights of approximately 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
