Associate Protection Associate

About This Role

This role supports shrinkage and safety awareness programs by aiding store management in communicating current topics, conducting surveillance to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity, and detaining and interviewing suspects in accordance with local laws and company policy. The associate also supports safety programs by identifying and addressing potential hazards, conducting incident investigations, and assisting with internal investigations.

Responsibilities

• Support shrinkage and safety awareness programs by aiding store management to communicate current shrinkage and safety topics
• Conduct surveillance by observing customer's and contractor's activities (CCTV/floor) to detect theft, fraud or suspicious activity
• Collect investigative intelligence related to ORC activity and fraud
• Monitor team member activity as needed, taking direction from AP management
• Report infractions of company policy to AP and/or store management
• Conduct interviews in accordance with local laws and company policy on customers and contractors suspected of theft
• Report suspected fraud to AP management or Market Investigations as needed
• Create and manage records using approved company methods
• Ensure proper retention of evidence and disposition of recovered merchandise
• Attend court hearings, update appropriated files, and maintain relationships with local law enforcement
• Identify and address potential hazards to customers and associates
• Take initiative to correct minor hazards
• Conduct incident investigations and complete associated reports
• Collect evidence regarding internal investigations, taking direction from AP management
• Act as an interview witness as needed
• Perform responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures to drive sales and profit

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Learn and stay up to date on company policy and procedures relating to loss prevention and relevant local legal requirements
• Maintain composure and handle high stress situations in a calm/effective manner
