About the role
The Associate General Counsel will provide advice and counsel on a variety of legal matters germane to the operations of the organization. The successful candidate should demonstrate creativity in crafting legal solutions, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills along with an ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with General Counsel to assist in the management and execution of specialized work that might be required
- Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of legal topics to include: labor and employment law, contracts, real estate matters, subpoena responses, intellectual property, research compliance and risk management strategies
- Negotiate and/or assist in the negotiations of labor, contractor, vendor or employee matters
- Preparing and filing reports
- Draft legal documents
- Conduct and coordinate legal research
- Create and conduct training workshops on a variety of legal topics
- Create and interpret corporate policies
- Analyze legal issues relating to programs
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Juris Doctorate required
- Must be licensed and in good standing in one or more states
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate law department (desired), law firm or government agency
- Have general business, commercial and or labor/employment law experience; experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts covering a wide range of commercial relationships; experience drafting and negotiating leases preferred
- Experience managing litigation
