About the role

The Outpatient Billing and Patient Care Executive is responsible for providing excellent patient support services while ensuring accurate billing, insurance processing, and payment collection for outpatient services. The role involves coordinating with patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal departments to ensure a smooth patient experience and timely revenue collection.

Key Responsibilities Patient Care Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients during registration and check-in.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm outpatient appointments.
  • Guide patients regarding hospital procedures, services, and billing policies.
  • Coordinate patient flow between departments and healthcare providers.
  • Address patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
  • Assist patients with insurance-related questions and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies.

Billing Responsibilities

  • Register patients and accurately enter demographic and insurance information into the hospital system.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and authorizations before services are rendered.
  • Generate accurate outpatient bills based on services provided.
  • Process payments through cash, card, online, or insurance channels.
  • Submit insurance claims and follow up on pending claims.
  • Resolve claim denials, billing discrepancies, and payment issues.
  • Reconcile daily collections and prepare billing reports.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare billing regulations and payer guidelines.

Outpatient Billing Team Responsibilities 1. Patient Registration and Insurance Verification

  • Collect patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage before services are provided.
  • Obtain necessary referrals and authorizations.
  1. Charge Capture and Billing
  • Review outpatient services provided and ensure accurate charge entry.
  • Generate and submit claims to insurance companies.
  • Ensure correct use of medical coding (ICD, CPT, HCPCS) where applicable.
  1. Claims Management
  • Monitor claim status after submission.
  • Identify and resolve claim rejections and denials.
  • Correct billing errors and resubmit claims when required.
  1. Payment Posting
  • Post payments received from insurance companies and patients.
  • Reconcile payments against billed charges.
  • Investigate payment discrepancies.
  1. Accounts Receivable Follow-up
  • Follow up on outstanding claims and unpaid balances.
  • Coordinate with insurers regarding pending claims.
  • Manage aging accounts and collections processes.

  • Ensure accurate billing documentation.

  • Welcome and guide patients through outpatient visits.
