About the role
The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1, Chemistry and Immunology. The successful candidate will:
- Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Function as Assistant Supervisor responsible for the operation of a laboratory.
- Oversee day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, performance improvement activities.
- Performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by the chemistry and immunology labs.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on chemistry and immunology instruments.
- Assure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
- Train personnel in technical methodologist and interpretation of result.
- Record and archive operation test and QC results.
- Maintain inventory and statistics.
- Schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
- Assist in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
- Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job-related tasks as needed/required, as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.
Required Qualifications
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
- Bachelor of Science Degree and 6-years of experience; include 2-years of supervisory/administrative capacity.
- ASCP certification or equivalent.
- Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-years of supervisory experience in Chemistry and Hematology laboratories.
