Assistant Quantity Surveyor/ Quantity Surveyor/ Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP)

About This Role

This role involves delivering cost management services for construction projects, with a specific focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works. You will support or lead project cost management activities from feasibility through to project close-out, ensuring cost control, commercial governance, and quality objectives are met. Depending on your experience level, you will manage key project deliverables, engage with clients and stakeholders, support business growth, and contribute to a collaborative project environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports
• Apply Value Management techniques at the outset of projects and collaborate with Turner & Townsend's specialist Value Management team where appropriate
• Manage estimating and cost planning activities, including ownership and presentation of cost plans
• Manage procurement processes, ensuring all stages, including pre-qualification, tendering, evaluation, contractor selection, and contract preparation, are delivered effectively
• Manage post-contract cost control, including cost variations and change management processes
• Carry out cost checking, valuations, and commercial assessments
• Prepare and present monthly post-contract cost reports to clients
• Lead and support Value Engineering and Life Cycle Costing exercises
• Negotiate and agree final accounts with contractors and suppliers
• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders throughout all project stages

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Relevant experience in quantity surveying and cost management within construction projects
• Experience in cost planning, procurement, tendering, contract administration, change management, and final account settlement
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and building services installations
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
• Candidates will be considered for Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or Senior Quantity Surveyor positions based on their qualifications and experience

Nice to have:

• MEP quantity surveying experience
• Experience using CostX or equivalent cost management software
• Experience leading project commercial activities and mentoring junior team members (for senior-level applicants)
