Assistant Project Manager - Transmission & Distribution

About This Role

This Assistant Project Manager role supports a portfolio of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects for key clients within an employee-owned firm. The position involves assisting project managers on various distribution, substation, and transmission line projects, acting as a coordinator and liaison to stakeholders, and ensuring project goals are met within budget and timeframe. The role also includes supporting project managers in overseeing design and construction contractors, or independently leading projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Management team in the overall management of projects from concept to completion, including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, RFP and contract services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout
• Monitor and manage project scope
• Manage Contractors' submittals, requests for information, supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs
• Verify Contractor compliance including: quality, safety, environmental, environmental and material management programs
• Execute contracts including: change order management/ field change directives, approval of invoices, and management of schedules
• Work with project controls to maintain project cost reporting, scheduling, project work breakdown structure establishment, project set-up and closeout within the accounting system, and field progress tracking
• Assist with the development of internal and external reports including, project budgeting, cost reports, project cash flow forecast, and project status reports to all stakeholders
• Participate in internal and external project risk reviews
• Coordinate project close out and project documentation
• Collaborate with the program team to successfully mitigate issues and achieve seamless project execution
• Help establish and track project level KPIs and Metrics to validate and maintain performance across the portfolio of projects they are overseeing

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree from accredited program and 5 years of applicable experience required
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding work environment, ability to work overtime on short notice
• High proficiency using Microsoft Office
• Ability to work collaboratively with others (Owner's, Contractors, Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives
