Assistant Project Manager

About This Role

This role supports the management and delivery of multidisciplinary civil infrastructure design projects, working closely with the Project Manager and technical teams. It suits an individual with existing exposure to project or design management within an engineering consultancy environment, supported by a technical background in utilities, roads, or transportation.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in the day-to-day management and coordination of multidisciplinary design projects
• Develop, monitor, and update project programs, milestones, deliverable schedules, and resource requirements
• Coordinate interfaces between technical disciplines and identify scope gaps, overlaps, and dependencies
• Track project progress, risks, actions, approvals, and key decisions, escalating issues where required
• Support project controls including resource forecasting, budget monitoring, progress reporting, and performance tracking
• Identify potential scope changes early and support the preparation and management of variations/change requests
• Coordinate with clients, authorities, subconsultants, and other project stakeholders
• Support preparation for client and project meetings, including agendas, presentations, actions, and follow-up
• Oversee the coordination of QA/QC, BIM, and document control processes to ensure project requirements are followed
• Support authority submissions and approvals and maintain visibility of key approval dependencies
• Maintain effective project information management, including correspondence, registers, trackers, and project records
• Promote lessons learned and continuous improvement across project delivery

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 3–7 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated exposure to project management and/or design management
• Technical background in utilities, roads, and transportation infrastructure
• Previous engineering consultancy experience is essential
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary design delivery and project lifecycle requirements
• Strong working knowledge of project planning, project controls, risk, and change management
• Experience coordinating multiple disciplines, stakeholders, and project interfaces
• Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
• Familiarity with scheduling and project management tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project

Nice to have:

• Working knowledge of authority requirements, regulations, and approval processes in Abu Dhabi, with exposure to Dubai and Saudi Arabia considered advantageous
