U.S. History
The Department of History at The University of Memphis invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Teaching in U.S. History. The initial appointment is for one academic year with the possibility of renewal contingent upon available funding.
Successful candidates are expected to teach a 4-4 load that includes survey courses in U.S. History (U.S. to 1877; U.S. from 1877) as well as upper-division undergraduate courses based on department needs, in both the classroom and online formats.
Applicants must have Ph.D. in History in hand prior to time of appointment. Initial review of applications will begin Friday, July 3, 2026, and may continue until the position is filled. Candidates who are called for an interview must notify the Department of Human Resources in writing of any reasonable accommodation needed prior to the date of the interview.
