Key Responsibilities
Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and New York-Presbyterian Hospital are recruiting for a full-time academic pediatric faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the rank of Assistant Professor (commensurate with credentials) on the non-tenure track to serve as Faculty Leader of the division’s Quality/Safety program. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with the outstanding clinical and research faculty within the division and at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), the NCI-designated Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Mailman School of Public Health.
Founded in 1959, The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant at Columbia Children’s Health, New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital (MSCH) is one of the oldest and most comprehensive centers in the country focused on treating children with cancer and blood disorders. MSCH has 202 inpatient pediatric beds, including a 54-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and 10 operating rooms. Our division is currently composed of 3 sections (Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation) with 24 full-time faculty, 4 research RN/NPs, 8 clinical research associates, and 2 regulatory specialists and includes an ACGME-accredited Fellowship Program and a FACT-accredited stem cell transplant program.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide oversight of the Quality/Safety program for the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at CUIMC/MSCH. The program leader will be expected to develop, implement and oversee initiatives to improve quality and safety of care, operational efficiency and patient/family experience in the inpatient and outpatient settings. They will be expected to promote a culture of safety through mentorship and teaching of trainees and other faculty regarding quality improvement processes and best practices. The program leader will work closely with the NYP Quality and Safety Program on key hospital- and enterprise-wide initiatives related to the pediatric hematology, oncology and stem cell transplant patient population, including chemotherapy safety and CLABSI reduction.

Clinical responsibilities will include serving as attending physician on the inpatient oncology service and providing outpatient care to children, adolescents and young adults for pre-HSCT with oncologic diagnoses as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Administrative responsibilities will include leadership of division’s Quality/Safety Program and participation in hospital- and enterprise-wide Quality/Safety projects, committees and councils.

Educational responsibilities include training of fellows and residents, including clinical oversight, mentorship, training and didactic teaching sessions related to quality/safety in pediatric hematology-oncology.

Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License

Must be Board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology or an equivalent board certification with experience in Stem Cell Transplantation
