About This Role

This full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position is designed to support institutions in recruiting internationally based Early Career Researchers to Canada through the Canada Impact+ Emerging Leaders program. The role involves advancing transformative research programs in clean technology and resource value chains, building partnerships, and translating research into applications that benefit Canadians and the world. Successful candidates will be expected to begin their appointment no later than August 5, 2027, within an academic unit aligned with their expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead an independently funded research program
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
• Develop courses in areas of specialization
• Supervise and mentor graduate students
• Contribute to the intellectual life of the University

Requirements

• Internationally based, both working and residing outside Canada, on August 5, 2026
• Within five years following the start date of their first research-related appointment, minus the length of any eligible delays in research
• PhD required by McGill University for appointment to a tenure-track position
• Authorized to work in Canada
• Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based
• English communication both verbally and in writing
• Registration in a Canadian professional engineering association within the first five years following hiring (for Faculty of Engineering appointments)

Benefits

• Research funding and institutional support
• $100,000 per year for six years to McGill University to support salary costs and direct research expenses, with the possibility of extension for a further six years
