Assistant Professor, Experimental Physical Chemistry

About This Role

An Assistant Professor position in experimental physical chemistry is available within the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. This tenure-track role involves teaching, developing a research program, and advising students, suitable for a candidate with expertise in areas such as biophysical, physical organic, measurement science, materials, or other interdisciplinary experimental chemistry fields.

Responsibilities

• Teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, including introductory chemistry and advanced classes in areas of interest
• Develop a vigorous, externally funded research program addressing fundamental problems in chemistry using state-of-the-art experimental approaches
• Incorporate emerging methodologies such as automation, high-throughput experimentation, advanced data analysis, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence, as appropriate to the research program
• Advise graduate and undergraduate students
• Participate in relevant service to the department, college, and university through active participation in various committees, including doctoral student committees, graduate admissions, and recruiting
• Collaborate on research in the candidate’s area of expertise across the university, including the College of Arts and Sciences and the Colleges of Engineering and Medicine

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a closely related field prior to the effective date of appointment
