Assistant Principal

About This Role

An Assistant Principal supports the Principal in setting ambitious school-wide vision and goals, aligned with the District's mission, to prepare students for success. This role involves serving as an instructional leader, ensuring the implementation of sustainable systems for guiding instruction, and fostering a positive school culture. The Assistant Principal also supports family and community engagement and manages various administrative functions to maintain safe and efficient school operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Principal in setting ambitious school-wide vision and goals, aligned to the District's mission and strategic goals, that prepare students for success in high school and post-secondary
• Serve as an instructional leader and assist in ensuring the implementation of sustainable systems and structures for the purpose of guiding instruction and support for students and building a positive school culture and climate for everyone in the school community
• Support a robust family and community engagement system and structure in the school community
• Evaluate and other licensed staff in accordance with the District 65 teacher evaluation model for the purpose of improving instruction
• Supervise school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the school's curriculum
• Facilitate communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of supporting students and improving school programs
• Support the Principal in monitoring fidelity of curriculum implementation to ensure high quality, rigorous instruction for all students
• Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
• Support the management of school administrative functions (e.g. facility maintenance, budget, staffing, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines
• Prepare a wide variety of materials (e.g. licensed and non-licensed staff evaluations, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information
• Represent the administrative team in the school and within community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to school environment
• Review instructional practices in each classroom on a regular basis for the purpose of improving teaching and learning
• Coordinate special education program components for the purpose of delivering services in alignment with established policies and guidelines for IEP/504 compliance
• Manage building based evaluation and IEP teams and serve as the Director's designee at most Child Review and IEP meetings
