Assistant Manager

About This Role

An Assistant Manager at Old Navy supports store leadership in driving sales and delivering an excellent customer experience. This full-time, on-site position involves managing the sales floor, overseeing visual merchandising, and ensuring operational standards are met, all while fostering an inclusive and energetic store culture.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the sales floor
• Oversee visual merchandising and brand presentation
• Ensure operational standards are consistently met
• Lead and coach store associates
• Support scheduling and workload planning
• Assist with training, performance feedback, and recognition
• Monitor key performance metrics
• Support loss prevention efforts
• Ensure company policies, safety standards, and compliance requirements are followed
• Contribute to creating an inclusive, energetic store culture

Requirements

• Retail leadership experience, including supervising teams, delegating tasks, and providing coaching and performance feedback
• Customer service and sales skills, with the ability to engage customers, resolve issues, and support a high-energy, results-driven environment
• Operational and organizational skills, including experience with scheduling, inventory processes, cash handling, and maintaining store standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and interact effectively with customers and colleagues
• Basic business acumen, including understanding of sales metrics, key performance indicators, and strategies to drive store performance
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by retail operations
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice to have:

• Experience in fashion or apparel retail, along with an interest in styling, visual merchandising, and brand presentation
• Post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field
