We are looking for a motivated leader to assist in managing our primary health services team at Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF). The team consists of both clinical and non-clinical staff and you will thrive working in a complex and challenging environment.
You will report to and work closely with the Health Centre Manager. The Health Team deals with a broad range of general and mental health issues, respond to emergencies, consult with external health services and undertake health education for this high health needs population.
Working collaboratively with Doctors, Allied Health professionals, external agencies and other Ara Poutama Aotearoa staff you will promote a philosophy of care within the prison which ensures the delivery of quality primary health services to those in our management. The ability to form new relationships is vital in this role.

Mōu | About you
If you are a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate who lives and breathes our Kaupapa. In your application, show us how you meet the following:
- Proven experience across primary, community, secondary, or tertiary care, supporting patients with acute and complex needs
- Strong understanding of professional, ethical, and legislative requirements, ideally within a prison or secure setting
- Well-developed skills in communication, financial awareness, leadership, and team management
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound business and operational thinking within a healthcare environment
As the successful candidate, you will hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and hold a current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate. Having or working towards graduate papers is desirable.
Experience, qualifications, and registration in New Zealand are highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who have proven experience working within the New Zealand healthcare system, hold relevant New Zealand qualifications, and are currently registered with the appropriate regulatory bodies. This will ensure a smoother integration into our workforce and a deeper understanding of the local context and standards of care.
