Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Position has latitude extended to them from the Facility Manager (FM) to exercise the authority and control over the resources necessary to assist in monitoring and maintaining the KBI Forensic Science Center facility. Must monitor facility management control systems ensuring the facility is properly maintained and down time is minimized. Responds to building systems issues after hours as needed and as directed by the FM. Assists with maintenance, repair and cleaning work of the facility.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules on building systems that includes repairs, service and implement modifications when needed as directed by the Facility Manager (FM).
  • Assist with the installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, such as heat, electrical power, refrigeration or water supply and sewage systems as directed and instructed by the FM.
  • Monitor Forensic Science Center (FSC) facility management/control systems – electronically and visually monitor and troubleshoot building systems; coordinate with contractors as repairs are needed; maintain records and respond to afterhours building related issues as directed by the FM to ensure the building remains safe and operational.
  • Monitor FSC security system – monitor receiving area software/cameras for security and alarms and receive goods from common carriers with deliveries to the building.
  • Assist with the coordination of FSC facility related purchasing activities with the business office and laboratory administration. Take delivery of goods, deliver to the appropriate areas of the building, and confirm delivery of orders.
  • Assist the Maintenance and Repair Technician staff; ensure the facility is properly cleaned and maintained, monitor and maintain adequate supply of janitorial supplies.
  • Maintain control measures over worker safety practices and care of equipment, tools and supplies.

  • High School, GED, Degree, Certificate, Programs, etc

Licensing & Certification

  • Driver License

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess experience in the troubleshooting or repair areas of electrical, mechanical/piping or HVAC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in maintenance of a commercial building

The pre-employment process will be waived for current KBI personnel who have previously completed the screening requirements
