About This Role

This leadership role provides institutional oversight for Xavier University's student conduct processes, managing all procedures, policies, and prevention initiatives related to student integrity and community expectations. The Assistant Dean is responsible for all aspects of the student conduct process, from advising and training panels to investigating misconduct and facilitating high-level hearings. The role collaborates with campus partners to develop proactive programs and manage issues impacting community safety and University liability within the Jesuit Catholic tradition.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direct oversight of all aspects of the student conduct process, including serving as an Administrative Conduct Officer, hearing cases at the highest level of student misconduct (including Title IX, bias, hazing, harassment, alcohol and other drug, and harm to self or others)
• Coordinate conduct hearings, sanctions, and mandates
• Investigate and resolve student complaints related to the Student Handbook
• Serve as coordinator/advisor to the University Conduct Board
• Maintain the Student Handbook
• Serve as primary Maxient administrator
• Manage the University’s Drug Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) responsibilities
• Complete disciplinary records requests
• Oversee departmental administrative functions including budget management and student learning outcomes
• Collaborate with campus partners to manage high-level issues impacting community safety and University liability
• Provide supervision and guidance to those who work within or support the student conduct process, including indirect supervision of the 5 Hall Directors (serving as the primary point of conduct-related responsibilities)
• Provide oversight for the Student Rights Representative and Student Conduct Liaison
• Recruit, select, and train the University Conduct Board and Integritas Advisors
• Facilitate annual training for Residence Life staff (Hall Directors and Resident Assistants)
• Facilitate training for other members of the community on an as-needed basis
• Provide leadership and oversight of the mandatory leave of absence process, particularly for high-level cases, ensuring a fair and transparent process for students
• Work closely with the Office of the General Counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and policies
• Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement prevention programming/social norm campaigns regarding high-risk alcohol and other drug use, hazing, and other behavioral issues to further a climate of integrity, respect, and productive community engagement
• Oversee facilitation of campus-based training to support compliance with state and federal laws (including Collin’s Law and DFSCA), the Clery Act, and FERPA
