Assistant Athletic Director

About This Role

An Assistant Athletic Director at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School plays a key role in supporting the growth and success of a premier high school athletic program. This position serves as a liaison to teams, helps attract and retain mission-aligned student-athletes and families, and works under the direction of the athletic director to advance the school's goals and athletic vision. This role suits a relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and dynamic recruiter who understands how athletics strengthen school culture and support enrollment growth.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Athletics in the daily administration and operation of the athletic program
• Game supervision in partnership with Athletics Department staff
• Assist with scheduling, game management, facility usage, transportation coordination, and event logistics
• Provide leadership and support to coaches regarding program development, student-athlete experience, and departmental initiatives
• Coordinate and keep consistent the athletic department communications, marketing, and promotional efforts
• Assist in maintaining compliance with school, conference, league, and state athletic association requirements
• Support the planning and execution of athletic department events, including awards ceremonies, signing celebrations, parent meetings, and special events
• Hire, develop, and mentor premier individuals as coaches and assistant coaches in coordination with the Athletics Director and the Associate Athletic Director
• Help oversee student-athlete leadership and character development initiatives
• Develop and implement strategies to identify, engage, and recruit prospective student-athletes who are strong academic, athletic, and character fits for Good Counsel
• Build relationships with youth coaches, club organizations, middle schools, community programs, and prospective families
• Coordinate prospective student-athlete visits, athletic showcases, and recruitment-related events
• Represent Good Counsel at youth sporting events, showcases, tournaments, and community outreach opportunities
• Serve as additional liaison between the Athletics Department, Admissions, and Advancement Offices to support the implementation of strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the connection between athletics, enrollment management, and institutional advancement
• Collaborate with the Chief Enrollment Officer and Executive Director of Enrollment Management to develop and implement recruitment strategies that increase applications, enrollment yield, and retention of mission-aligned students
• Partner with coaches to establish a coordinated, mission-centered approach to student-athlete recruitment and retention that reflects Good Counsel's commitment to academic excellence, athletic achievement, character development, and Catholic values
