About The Role

Join the RAC as an Area Team Manager and play a key role in leading high-performing inspection teams that help deliver a trusted service to our members and partners.

The RAC has an exciting opportunity for an Area Team Manager to join our growing Inspections team.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you'll lead a team of vehicle inspectors across a number of client sites throughout the Southern region. This is a field-based role, working Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to travel between locations and support operational needs across the region.

What you'll do

As an Area Team Manager, you'll lead, coach and support around 15 vehicle inspectors, creating an environment where people can perform at their best and deliver a great service.

  • Lead, motivate and develop your team to achieve high standards of performance and engagement.
  • Support colleagues through regular coaching, feedback and performance conversations.
  • Manage attendance and wellbeing, ensuring absence levels remain within target.
  • Work closely with the Resourcing Manager to manage headcount and workforce planning.
  • Monitor productivity, quality and cost performance, taking action where needed.
  • Build strong working relationships with client sites and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure operational processes are followed safely, consistently and efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team performance and ways of working.

What you'll need

  • Proven experience leading and developing a team within an operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • A customer-focused approach and a passion for delivering great service.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to balance operational priorities effectively.
  • A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) is essential.
