Area Sales Manager

About This Role

Leading the Mediacom Direct Sales team, this high-impact leadership role is for an experienced sales professional who thrives in the field, loves developing people, and has a passion for building winning teams. You will be responsible for field execution, team development, customer acquisition, and overall business performance across your assigned territory.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and motivate a team of 10-15+ Direct Sales Representatives
• Drive performance against key sales metrics, including revenue, customer acquisitions, appointments, close rates, territory penetration, and quality standards
• Conduct regular field coaching, ride-alongs, and performance reviews to develop team capability
• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new sales representatives
• Deliver daily huddles, team meetings, and recognition programs that create a high-performance culture
• Monitor sales activity and pipeline performance to ensure achievement of business objectives
• Manage schedules, attendance, timekeeping payroll inputs, and partner with Human Resources on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and policy-related matters
• Analyze performance trends and implement action plans to improve results
• Provide market intelligence regarding competitors, pricing, customer feedback, and territory opportunities
• Develop and manage daily territory plans, canvassing routes, staffing assignments, and market-coverage strategies to maximize residential customer acquisition
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure flawless program execution
• Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and customer experience expectations
• Lead by example through active field presence and visible leadership

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading sales teams in a field, retail, direct sales, telecommunications, or customer acquisition environment
• Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets through effective people leadership
• Strong coaching, communication, and team-building skills
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing sales talent
• Results-driven mindset with strong business acumen and accountability for outcomes
• Ability to analyze sales performance and translate insights into action plans
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
• Willingness to travel throughout a broad geographic territory
• Ability to work outdoors and support field teams in various weather conditions
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice to have:

• Experience in telecommunications, direct sales, door-to-door sales, or residential customer acquisition
• Basic proficiency with home internet services, telecommunications products, and service plans
• Post-secondary education in business, sales, or a related field
