Area Manager, Healthcare Management

About This Role

This Area Manager role is responsible for overseeing patient care within their own discipline, fostering coordination among multiple rehabilitation departments, and developing and building rehabilitation teams. The manager also markets facilities and acts as a resource for problem-solving, assisting with resource coordination, caseload optimization, identifying educational opportunities, and implementing clinical programs. The role is open to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, certified occupational therapy assistants, and speech-language pathologists.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the rehabilitation team to optimize efficient and appropriate delivery of care, including assuring adequate therapy staff to meet patient needs
• Provide direct care and follow the appropriate job description; manage caseload and maintain assigned productivity level
• Participate as an effective team member and maximize team effort for facility and patient care excellence
• Assist with and communicate patient assignments to all disciplines involved
• Assist team in patient and team problem-solving activities
• Ensure timely response to new admissions and reassessment of current patients to identify significant changes that could result in additional therapy
• Achieve Broad River Rehab utilization expectations
• Follow established protected health information (PHI) policies to prevent privacy or security breaches
• Report breaches to Privacy Official
• Maintain and manage relationship with facility Administrator, Director of Nursing, and other key staff to ensure effective customer relations
• Enhance facility profitability through understanding and education of reimbursement issues
• Ensure alignment with facility objectives, timely response to facility issues, and resolution of problems
• Identify new clinical program opportunities and coordinate information with appropriate management
• Participate in Utilization Review and/or Performance Improvement activities as directed to ensure coordination of rehab effort with facility
• Develop, implement, and monitor facility action plans to ensure quality patient care objectives are met
• Participate in marketing activities to support the facility's mission
• Assist with new staff training and orientation to ensure understanding
• Communicate effectively to ensure staff understand business aspects of therapy delivery from both the customer's and the company's standpoints
• Participate in the recruiting process
• Provide feedback to therapists through in-services and discussion
• Ensure compliance with data reporting systems
• Provide monitoring function to ensure accuracy of billing, completion of time in facility logs and communication to corporate office
