About the role
We are seeking a Lead Product Engineer / Architect to serve as the senior technical authority for a growing space and satellite cybersecurity platform . This role will help scale flight-proven cybersecurity capabilities and managed services for commercial space companies, satellite operators, aerospace primes, and large constellation operators.
The Lead Product Engineer / Architect will partner closely with product leadership to define the technical vision, architecture, engineering standards, and delivery roadmap across cyber, software, hardware, AI, space, ground, and user environments.
The ideal candidate can translate complex mission, engineering, and cybersecurity requirements into scalable, commercially viable solutions that can be deployed consistently across multiple clients and environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Own long-term system architecture , including target architectures, interfaces, trust boundaries, and security-by-design patterns across space, ground, and user segments.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for architecture decisions, engineering standards, release-readiness, and technical tradeoffs .
- Lead technical integration across cybersecurity, software, hardware, AI, embedded systems, and systems engineering .
- Develop scalable and repeatable architectures that can be deployed across different satellite and constellation environments.
- Guide system-level testing , security validation, mission readiness, operational acceptance, failure analysis, and root-cause resolution.
- Translate security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CMMC, ATO/STIGs, and SPARTA into executable technical controls.
- Lead technical discussions with clients, executives, architects, and engineering teams .
- Mentor technical leads, architects, and engineers while providing guidance on complex technical decisions.
- Support the evolution of research and emerging technologies into production-ready solutions .
- Ensure architecture and engineering practices maintain strong security, reliability, scalability, and mission integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in product engineering, solution architecture, systems architecture, technical product leadership, or similar roles.
- Experience delivering complex cybersecurity, aerospace, space, embedded, or mission-critical systems into production and operations.
- Strong experience designing secure architectures across cloud, on-premises, hybrid, embedded, and space environments .
- Strong systems-thinking and systems-integration experience, including interfaces, constraints, dependencies, and failure modes.
- Experience developing reference architectures, architecture patterns, platforms, or reusable solutions adopted across multiple teams, clients, or environments.
- Cross-domain technical knowledge spanning areas such as embedded/space systems, AI/ML, ground systems, cloud, DevOps, and cybersecurity .
- Strong understanding of security architecture, including:
- Identity and access management
- Key management
- Secure boot and software updates
- Network/system segmentation
- Data protection and encryption
- Logging and telemetry
- Supply-chain security
- Experience working with compliance and security frameworks such as NIST, CMMC, ATO, or STIGs .
- Strong risk-management, incident-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to influence teams and stakeholders without direct authority .
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience taking a technology product or platform to market through pilots, co-development, or client deployments .
- Experience with satellite mission operations or aerospace delivery environments .
- Embedded and real-time systems integration experience.
- Experience deploying AI/ML models in constrained environments .
- Familiarity with the SPARTA (Space Attack Research and Tactic Analysis) framework.
- Active Secret or higher security clearance .
- Experience with commercial space, satellite operators, aerospace primes, or large constellations.
