Anti-Money Laundering Specialist

About This Role

This role focuses on reviewing, analyzing, and investigating customer transactions to identify potential money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes activity. It suits a candidate with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and investigative curiosity, who can evaluate financial information and document findings accurately.

Responsibilities

• Investigate alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems to identify potentially suspicious financial activity
• Analyze customer transactional behavior, including wire transfers, ACH payments, cash activity, deposits, and withdrawals
• Review financial transactions to identify unusual patterns, anomalies, and potential financial crime risks
• Conduct customer due diligence (CDD), Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews, and additional research on flagged activity
• Utilize Microsoft Excel to review transaction data, identify trends, and support investigative findings
• Perform open-source research using public records, regulatory databases, adverse media, and other investigative resources
• Prepare clear, concise investigative summaries documenting findings, supporting evidence, and recommendations
• Identify activity requiring additional review, enhanced due diligence (EDD), or potential regulatory escalation
• Apply AML regulations, policies, and procedures consistently throughout the investigative process
• Collaborate with compliance, fraud, and investigative teams to support accurate and timely case resolution
• Meet established productivity, quality assurance, and performance expectations

Requirements

• New graduates looking to begin a career in Anti-Money Laundering, Financial Crimes Investigations, or Financial Services are welcome and encouraged to apply
• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or a related field (strongly preferred)
• Strong analytical, investigative, and critical-thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to analyze information, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions based on supporting evidence
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, and analyzing data
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly document research, findings, and conclusions
• Proven ability to work in a structured, production-driven environment with KPI and scorecard expectations
• Comfortable navigating multiple systems, applications, and information sources simultaneously
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple investigations and meet established deadlines
• Interest in financial crimes, fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, or investigative research
