Anti-Money Laundering Analyst

About This Role

This hybrid opportunity is for investigators with a strong foundation in traditional AML and financial crime investigations, combined with practical, hands-on experience analyzing cryptocurrency transactions and blockchain activity. The position will combine blockchain analytics, open-source intelligence (OSINT), historical transaction reviews, and traditional AML methodologies to assess financial crime and sanctions exposure, identify suspicious activity, and support defensible, risk-based investigative determinations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex AML and financial crime investigations involving cryptocurrency, blockchain transactions, and digital assets
• Utilize blockchain analytics platforms to trace wallet activity, analyze transaction flows, and evaluate direct/indirect exposure to high-risk entities or services
• Conduct historical transaction reviews, including wallet attribution, counterparties, source/destination of funds, and potentially suspicious transactional patterns
• Investigate potential OFAC/sanctions exposure associated with cryptocurrency transactions and digital asset activity
• Assess blockchain activity involving mixers/tumblers, high-risk exchanges, darknet markets, scams, fraud, ransomware, privacy coins, and other elevated-risk typologies
• Review decentralized finance (DeFi) and smart-contract activity, including decentralized exchanges, liquidity pools, token swaps, staking, routers, proxies, airdrops, and related transaction mechanics
• Evaluate wallet-attribution findings, including conflicting, outdated, or incomplete data, while appropriately documenting investigative limitations
• Reconcile relevant public blockchain activity with internal transactional or ledger records, identifying and documenting discrepancies
• Conduct OSINT, adverse media, and investigative research to supplement blockchain findings
• Incorporate KYC/CDD/EDD, customer-risk information, and traditional AML findings into comprehensive investigations
• Prepare clear, well-supported investigative narratives, including evidence reviewed, identified risk indicators, outstanding limitations, conclusions, and recommended case dispositions
• Maintain appropriate blockchain evidence and investigative documentation while meeting established quality and productivity expectations

Requirements

• 3+ years of overall experience in AML, financial crime investigations, sanctions, compliance, or a closely related investigative discipline
• Demonstrated hands-on experience using blockchain analytics to investigate cryptocurrency or digital asset activity
• Understanding of cryptocurrency wallets, transaction tracing, wallet attribution, direct/indirect exposure, and common digital asset risk indicators
• Knowledge of transaction monitoring, financial crime typologies, and OFAC/sanctions compliance
