About This Role

An AML Ops Analyst is responsible for screening, reviewing alerts, and escalating and reporting on potential suspicious activities identified via internal and external triggers. This includes AML/CFT negative news, fraud, sanctions, and KYC generated during the Transaction Monitoring process of Banking & Financial systems. The analyst will investigate transactions from referrals, interact with various levels of the bank to mitigate risk, and support the oversight of the BCB 1st Line of Defense. The role may also involve handling legal requests, FINCEN regulatory processes, and law enforcement communications.

Responsibilities

• Review and sign off on L3 SAR filings
• Manage end-to-end regulatory audits and exams
• Tune TM system rules and thresholds
• Lead complex look-back cases and investigations
• Liaise directly with different internal stakeholders
• Conduct in-depth alerts/case investigations pertaining to potential financial crime concerns such as AML, bribery, corruption, terrorist financing/human trafficking, etc., to mitigate regulatory, reputational, and compliance risk for the bank
• Conduct investigations stemming from a variety of internal and external referrals, including clients and affiliate fraud, internal employee misconduct, sanctions-related matters and circumvention attempts, and AML/CFT red flags
• Interact with all lines of business and affiliates to resolve issues as appropriate and and determine whether the activity is deemed suspicious
• Prepare investigative reports with findings after a review of relevant documentation, including drafting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
• Review monthly AML/CFT/Red flags reports to identify potentially suspicious activity
• Participate in monthly calls with affiliates and key stakeholders as needed
• Participate in a variety of regulatory and legal processes, including FinCEN 314(a), 314(b), 311 special measures, civil and grand jury subpoenas, and law enforcement information sharing and backup documentation requests
• Assist colleagues and AML Management in other special projects involving transactions relating to, for example, Money Service, Payment Service Providers (PSP) and entities operating involved in transaction-related services for the bank
• Keep informed on laws, regulations, and current practices pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations to AML Risk Team/Management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Statistics or equivalent
• Experienced and knowledgeable in BSA/Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Transaction screening and Monitoring, Sanctions issues and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
• Minimum 6 years of experience in L3 SAR filings, AML experience in the banking sector
