About This Role
An Animator creates engaging 2D character animations for YouTube Shorts, focusing on strong frame-by-frame animation with original poses, movements, and expressions. This role involves maintaining character consistency and syncing animation with audio elements.
Responsibilities
- Create engaging 2D character animations for YouTube Shorts
- Perform strong frame-by-frame 2D animation with original poses, movements, and expressions
- Create expressive facial expressions, body movements, hand gestures, and reaction poses
- Maintain character consistency, proportions, clothing, and colors throughout animation
- Create convincing character acting and character interactions
- Work from scripts/storyboards and convert them into engaging animated scenes
- Create accurate lip-sync and facial animation
- Sync animation with voice-over, dialogue, music, and sound effects
- Use camera movements, zooms, cuts, and transitions suitable for short-form content
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience
- Strong hands-on experience in 2D Character and Frame-by-Frame Animation
- Strong drawing skills with the ability to create custom poses and movements
- Good understanding of traditional 2D animation principles — timing, spacing, anticipation, squash and stretch, arcs, follow-through, exaggeration, and easing
- Strong character acting, expressions, and lip-sync skills
- Ability to maintain character consistency from frame to frame
- Understanding of YouTube Shorts / short-form content pacing
- Strong composition and staging for mobile/vertical video
- Ability to work with both frame-by-frame and rigged/cut-out animation
- Good storytelling and attention to detail
- Software proficiency: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop, Toon Boom Harmony, Moho
